I'm surprised it took this long to get a cut that bled as much as this one did. Arthur took a header off our front step. 

This morning as we sat in the bagel store waiting for our order a heavy set woman came through the door and lula loudly exclaimed, "oooh mom - look at that fat lady."

I shushed her and told her that wasn't very nice and that it might hurt her feelings. She then proceeded to mention "that fat lady" in her loudest stage whisper about 10 more times before we left. 

Today in micro fashion

70 degrees, snow hats, sandals & gardening gloves. 

We went to Wheaton regional park on Sunday and it was awesome. The train ride was a big lawsuit waiting to happen but other than that it was fun. Palsgraf anyone??? 

Hiking

Hiking is pretty unpleasant when one of your group is so obsessed with sticks that he refuses to budge from his spot until he has collected all the sticks his little eyes can see. 

It is also unpleasant when one of your hikers wets her pants 30 minutes away from the car and you are forced to give her your sweatshirt as a pair of make shift pants so she can get back to the car without freezing to death. 

All in all, not our best hike. 

Arthur was pretty cranky when I got home last night. He whined and cried the whole way through dinner. It was painful. Fortunately, after dinner he got a little Elmo so everything was right with the world.

I asked lula to look at me and smile so I could photograph her all green outfit and I hear a little squeaky cheese from arthur. And then he creeps into the photo.

I can't believe I missed the lily Pulitzer for target kids stuff.....

We did get some new (to her) summer clothes this weekend but those tiny shorts with the little ball trim.....sorry lula. I'll be more on the ball next time. 

Arthur's first Friday night dinner date. 

Friday night lights

We went to dinner tonight at the neighbors and lula tried lasagna. I told her how proud I was of her. 

Later as I was putting her to bed, she stroked the side of my face and said " I am so proud of you, for trying lettuce" 

Pretty much the best day ever!

To celebrate emancipation day we went to Baltimore. First we went to port discovery and it was awesome. 

After that we had lunch at Paul's new apartment before heading to the zoo! The Baltimore zoo is awesome. We saw giraffes, penguins, polar bears, ostriches, and flamingos. Lula laughed so hard at the ostrich because he looked so funny. She thinks he looked like a fat peach body covered in feathers with a long neck and tiny head.  She also really laughed hard when the penguin keeper brought out the bubble machine and the Penguins went crazy. It was the best day ever. 

And, as if all that fun wasn't enough, both kids were totally exhausted. They both passed out on the ride home and were desperate for an early bedtime.

April showers bring....

WORMS!

Both kids were delighted to hold some worms yesterday. 

When i got home and sit down to the table arthur totally lost his mind and insisted he be let up from the table. He then grabbed my hand and dragged me, sobbing all the way, to the front door where he begged to go outside. It was only raining a tiny bit so we all put on shoes and coats and went outside. I remember lula & mason refusing to come inside at this exact age. All they want to do is play outside all day. 

Arthur really didn't get the face in the wooden hole thing....

Arthur is saying so many new words every day. Yesterday he said jump, sheep, tickle me, gummies, and love you. 

He is such a sweet little thing. I really wish I could pause time right now and keep him exactly this age and this sweet forever. 

Weekend

We had a nice weekend - and are so glad the weather is finally turning nice. Saturday we did some yard work and went to the nursery to get new plants. We have no idea what we're doing in the garden though so it may be a total bust, who knows. 

On Sunday, I ran the cherry blossom 10 mile run. The weather was beautiful, the course was nice and flat and it was overall a pleasant experience. Except for the part where my knees started hurting around mile 6 and kept getting worse for the remainder of the run. Lula helped me with ice and a small lecture about biting off more than you can chew when I got home. 

We had brunch at paccis yesterday - delicious! Will definitely be going back for more brunch there. 

White House egg roll

We had SO much fun yesterday at the White House egg roll. It is hard to say exactly what my favorite part was. Lula kept flip flopping between meeting curious George and doing the NFL obstacle course. Arthur's favorite part was either the long nap be took as we stood in line(s) or the Popsicle we got on our way back to the metro. Pats favorite part was probably when we arrived back home.

Weekend

We had s fun weekend. Lula can't to work with me on Saturday and the train ride was probably her favorite part. The train ride and her new "noculars". 

Yesterday the kids got to go play at deirdres house while pat and I went out. Lucky for me my sister will take both my kids and a dog that isn't mine for a few hours. This little red fox was a good boy - according to Deirdre.

Arthur was right back at it this morning - up in Travis' face saying hi and seeming unhappy that Travis wouldn't respond.
