Obstacles

Lately, Arthur's favorite thing to do is play a card game called obstacles. There are a series of cards depicting different obstacles (lava river, cliff, field of poison ivy, toll booth, etc) and each player gets cards with tools on them to help the player traverse the various obstacles. The tool cards are supposed to be dealt out at random but Arthur insists on picking it his favorites. Currently his favorites include: mouse trapper, catapult, trampoline, jar of fireflies, rope, pulley, vacuum cleaner, bridge and box of scrap metal. This leaves the rest of us with things like pipe cleaners, a compass, silver tray, pumpkin, and flute. Know how hard it is to scale a mountain with only a flute and a pocket watch?
Notwithstanding the lack of excitement owing to the fact that we all know he will get the same cards and say the exact same things at each obstacle, Arthur still begs to play every day after dinner. And we usually indulge him. 😜

Tap tap tap

Last night was Lulas first tap dance lesson and she loved it! Not sure if she enjoyed the dance lesson or the solo adventure with grand pop more - but either way she was delighted. Woke up talking about her tap dancing this morning.

Silver power ranger

Arthur has been obsessed with his silver power ranger costume for months.
He wore it for Halloween, obvs, and then decided it was his go to outfit. Thanksgiving, visit with Santa, random weekend yard work, you name it, he believed it to be a costume occasion. It was a Christmas miracle that we talked him into khakis for the Christmas concert at school. His initial idea when told he needed to "dress up" was his trusty silver power ranger costume.

For Christmas Santa brought him a two piece hulk costume. Santa must have realized what a royal pain in the neck it was to hand wash the one piece poly suit w built in muscles that was soaked w urine at least once a week. Just as any mother would suspect, this obvious solution to the gross costume dilemma fell flat. He still won't even try it on!

Luckily, he is into the policeman costume he got from Deirdre & bo. Also lucky is that we remembered to take away the whistle after the first night.

Tape measurer to go in his holster since I couldn't find a toy gun to fit. And we don't have a tiny asp.

So cute

Sometimes I sit in the bathroom with the kids so that they take their time and don't rush. I sit on a tiny step stool that hardly accommodates my butt.

It was super cute when I looked over last night and saw Arthur sitting on the stool talking to Lula as she used the bathroom. I mean, we clearly have some boundary issues going on, but at least we're all very close!
