bartimeus

we usually get emails from mrs. yep with information about the things the kids are doing in school for the week. sometimes, but not always, these emails include information about songs the kids are singing but rarely do we get the tune of the song.  so, it is often difficult to get Lula to sing the songs at home.

imagine my total delight when, sua sponte, lula started singing this little tune at dinner last night.  ignore arthurs' interrupting....he cant help himself.

OLOL

The kids went to visit their new school on Friday - and they looooved it. Ran off without a backward glance when pat dropped them off and had to be dragged out when it was time to go.

Perhaps the most exciting thing is that since Arthur saw it and loved it, we will now be able to use school /Mrs.Wasp as a not so gentle threat. So far it is as effective as Santa Claus.

#damnitarthur

A new hashtag was born this weekend because Arthur broke some Easter decorations, painted all over the wall, and was generally a maniac.

We did take away his pacis and force him into underpants though so maybe he's just expressing his displeasure.

Critters

On Saturday Lula went to a little critters birthday party! She got to touch a turtle and a snake(puke) and ran around the pond at brook side gardens. It was a fun party and she looked adorable in her new fox dress!

They taught us how to tell
The difference between a boy turtle and a girl turtle (eye color and curveture of their belly shell) but by the time we got home she had mixed it all up and was telling Arthur that girl snakes have green eyes.

#bumlife

Yesterday as we were eating breakfast I heard what I thought was a train idling on the tracks just out of view of our windows.

When we finished eating Arthur and I headed up the path to see the train and boy did we got the jackpot. They were doing track work on the metro tracks! There were these little truck train cars with all sorts of machinery things attached. And loads of guys doing work. Arthur was in hog heaven. We went all the way up under the bridge so we could sit on the pilings and watch the work being done. We got lots of waves and honks.

We probably looked a little strange sitting there since the location is obviously used most frequently for recreational drug use and drinking. There was a lot of trash there.

Oh well, we stepped over the little drug bags and piles of broken glass and had a good time watching the trains.

Guess who dressed herself this morning?

Birthday donuts

Happy birthday to Big Momma and Aunt Cake!
When I left Lula was still asleep but Arthur was already into the donuts. I bet Arthur takes at least one bite out of every donut before Lula wakes up.

Poop bags

We have a Lyle the crocodile book that my kids love for its length. It's a long book but there is a shorter story at the end about Lyle becoming a dog walked. They name all 10 dogs and give a little description of each dogs personality. It is pretty funny - "snappy is, well, a little snappish".
After the story there is a page with a counting game where you get to count up fire hydrants, leashes, dog bowls, and assorted dog paraphernalia. The kids got to the baggies and were arguing over who got to count so I laughed and asked if they were really going to fight over who got to count the poop bags. They totally lost it! Poop bags! Arthur must have said pool bags another 200 times before he fell asleep. At one point, after I told him not to say it anymore, he nuzzled up against me, took out his pacis and whispered poop bags in my ear.
They were laughing so hard I was crying. Not a good way to wind down for bedtime but very very funny.

I bet the first thing Lula says when she wakes up this morning is poop bags.

Al fresco dining

Last nights springy weather called for al fresco dining. I forgot how hard it is to keep them interested in dinner when we're outside with the trains, neighbors, mojo the cat....

Tj maxx

I asked Lula about what Deirdre did with her while Pat and I were gone. She told me Deirdre took her to Tj maxx and I didn't think too much of it. Later I asked Deirdre if she took all 4 kids or just the girls to Tj maxx and she told me she didn't take them there.
As it turns out she took them to "the gym mass" at blessed sacrament and Lula translated that to Tj maxx.

I asked some follow up questions and Lula confirmed for me that she went to Tj maxx at Bridget's school.

Schlooping

When Arthur was done with his ice cream cake he picked up his plate and looked at us for nonverbal approval to lick up the melted ice cream from his plate. Nearly in unison we said " no Arthur - put the plate down."

He proceeded to explain "I want to schloop it up" and then made a schlooping noise with his mouth. To demonstrate to us that he wanted to slurp up the melted ice cream from the plate.

We were laughing too hard to stop him. Instead, we took pictures and then very seriously told him his manners were abhorrent.

Tiny napper

I missed this guy so much I encouraged him to nap with me today.
Best nap I've had in a long time.

Cannoli

While pregnant with Arthur I once ate a whole vat of cannoli filing and left a bunch of sad shells laying around.

It should come as no surprise then that when I gave Arthur a mini cannoli this weekend he went bonkers. Totally loved it!
