Bday week in review

Lula had a really long birthday celebration. We had Leighton birthday dinner on 10/21, cupcakes for snack at school in 10/21, school friends party on 10/23 and family birthday dinner on 10/25. I made that girl 3 different cakes! 

Tonight I'll take down her birthday pictures in the dining room and order some for arthur. We better get moving on that train table - we only have 2 weeks!

Arthur helped me frost lulas cake. 

Party time!

Lulas bureau party was a huge success!! She had a great time with her friends and cousins and bounced herself exhausted. 

Even when one of her classmates blew out the birthday candle for her she kept her cool, surprising everyone in the room! What a blast. Arthur had an excellent time too and was deeply disappointed to wake up this morning and remember that the moonbounce went away. 

Das mine!

Arthur's new favorite phrase is "das mine" and he says it all the time even when whatever he wants is clearly not his. 

Occasionally he says it to me in an angry tone and I tell him that he can't speak to me like that. Last night when I told him for the hundredth time to stop jumping on the sofa he looked me square in the face, pointed his fat finger and said " don't talk to me like that" before taking one more giant bounce on the sofa.  That was his last bounce of the evening. 

Chiffon

Yesterday afternoon I met up with glena and the kids at the park. After the kids got over their total delight to see me at the park (" but how did you find us?" "I can't believe you're here at the park") lula started talking about her dog named chiffon. 

Sure enough, when we got home she dragged out a golden retriever puppy who she has, apparently, named chiffon. PopPop is right when he says it is the most normal name she has dreamed up for anything ever. Usually it's Tatamala. 

Arthur had to be in on the action so his little golden retriever puppy got to be Owney after the dog in the Trains book we read 46 times a day. This morning arthur reported that Owney kept him up last night because he was barking like a naughty puppy. Pretty funny coming from my naughty puppy.

My baby is 4!! I think she had the best day ever yesterday between the donuts, presents, crown at school, cupcakes for snack and more presents later from Grammy & poppop. 

October 20

As I was putting lula to bed the night before her birthday I asked her one last time if she was ready to turn 4 overnight. She got very quiet and I could see the tears in her eyes. She told me that she did not want to turn anything because when you got big you couldn't see your mom anymore and that would make her sad. 

After I pulled myself together we decided that when she grew up we would live in houses next door to each other. When she had babies I would watch them for her when she went back to work and we would see each other every day. 

I'm sure her future husband won't mind, right? 

 

Weekend recap

We had a fun weekend picking pumpkins, getting faces painted, celebrating birthdays and taking christmas photos!! 

Fireman

Yesterday on or way into Costco we saw a firetruck. We were lookin at the truck & pointing & excitedly making noise when one of the firemen asked if the kids wanted to sit in the truck. Needless to say they were delighted to sit up in the big truck. 

Big thanks to the silver spring fire department guys who delayed their trip to Wheaton plaza to let my kids sit in he truck and oohhh and aaaahhhh over all the gear. 

Umbrellas

My children are obsessed with umbrellas. They are also very likely to injure themselves with umbrellas. We are at an impass with umbrellas. 

Yesterday was a beautiful day and a great evening stroll. (Even in the world's worst stroller.)

Tiny rappers

Not sure what their names would be but Ellen & arthur seem too form to work.
