Lula is so excited to go to the veiths today and bounce on the moonbounce and play in the sprinkler. 

Big boy bed

Arthur got a big boy bed this weekend. He is very proud. Unfortunately he fell out of bed, very loudly, last night and won't be allowed back into his bed until the guard rail goes on. 

We had a blast at the Baltimore zoo yesterday! They have penguins, a (deoressed looking) polar bear, giraffes!!!, and a rhino. I think it is way better than the DC zoo. The kids even got to feed the giraffes! 

Truck touch

Today is truck touch at st.Luke. Lula is lukewarm about it but Arthur is deeeeeelighted. For the past few mornings he has been asking me if he gets to touch the trucks today. I'm bummed I left before he woke up this morning because I'm sure it was the first thing out of his mouth. 

In other news, these two have been sleeping in the same bed for the week. Arthur's delight is palpable. Guess we may take the crib apart this weekend and give him a real bed. Sob! 

Chicken nuggets

Lately I've been trying (without much success) to drum up Arthur's interest in the potty. After our zoo trip yesterday I asked him if all kinds of animals used the potty and he laughed and told me no, zebras don't use the potty. We did this for about an hour and I was really hoping that he was beginning to see how cool it is to use the potty. 

As we laid down before bed last night and I turned on the timer Arthur crawled right up on top of me. He was such a tired sack of little boy. He nestled in under my chin and asked, earnestly, do chicken nuggets poop on the potty? Im afraid he's missing something fairly basic about the whole toilet training endeavor.

Weekend fun

Finally, we had a weekend with excellent weather. We did soccer for the kids (Lula did her soccer and Arthur's soccer), a trip to the zoo, lunch at zorbas and a Venezuelan bbq to finish the weekend. We also got to meet Ryan Philip who is the sweetest most relaxed baby I've ever met.

Tonight, instead of eating the super expensive organic blackberries I gave him for dinner Arthur decided to gift them to the one eyed cat who lives a few doors up. 

He is super generous. 

Go skins!

Friday night I took Lula to the Washington Redskins cheerleader tryouts. I thought it would be the perfect outing for her because it was all about dance and pop music and it was around the corner from my house! 

Boy was I mistaken. It was a lot more risqué than I would have liked for my 4 yr old. We left after a nearly nude 17 yr old high school senior did her bikini pagent portion of the tryouts in a thong bikini bottom and I almost lost my mind. 

I may have taken my 4 yr old to see it but I sure as hell won't let her "try out" when she's 17. 

Lula was happy for the time alone with me and so was I. I hope that her unique dance style wasn't influenced by all the booty popping! 

Soccer rocker

Lula had a surprisingly good time at soccer on Saturday. She scored a goal and played freeze tag. Things were cut short when it started snowing.... 

She let me braid her hair before she left when I told her that I always played sports with 2 French braids. 

The bunny farm

Before our weekend went south we went to bunnyland to celebrate Easter. We lucked out with warm-ish weather and a lot of fun activities.

Lula, 4, talks

When I dropped the kids at johannas Sunday afternoon with a bunch of babysitters I've never met before I did not give them a lot of information. 

I pointed at Lula and told them "Lula, 4, talks and uses the bathroom mainly by herself".  Arthur had run off by this point so I told them he was in blue overalls and relayed "Arthur, 2, doesn't talk much and does not use the bathroom." 

I wrote down pats phone number and thanked them. Add this event to my mother of the year nomination packet. 

Renwick

Despite the overwhelming sadness of the weekend my children had a fun few days. Saturday morning we took them downtown to the renwick for a quick trip to see the cool exhibits. Saturday night they spent hours (not exaggerating) running around the outside of deirdres house with the cousins Christin, Bourke & Gidez. They got to hang out with Grammy and pop pop on Sunday morning and then even more cousin time Sunday afternoon.
